Tiger Mama
I started working with Tiger Mama in January 2023. They are an Asian Fusion restaurant in the heart of Utrecht. This restaurant already had a very defined identity and incredible interior design. They contacted me to paint a mural in their covered terrace as this was the only room that was missing a little something to tie it in with the rest of the spaces. As this restaurant has incredible lighting, I inspired myself by the neon signs witnessed in the streets of Tokyo, Japan, by night. This particular room at night is filled with people so I wanted to create artwork that mirrored this energy. It was important for my clients to feature their logo and I wanted to work with the restaurants existing colour scheme. I also made sure to mask all the various pipes along the wall that were a visual eyesore.
The wall is roughly 3.6 tall by 6m wide Painted over the course of 3.5 weeks.

A few months later, Tiger Mama contacted me again to paint the other side of the room to bring even more life to it. The challenge this time would be to create artwork that made sense with the existing mural beside it, all while bringing something new to the table. As the benches took up the bottom portion of the wall, I also had to somehow integrate them into my composition. For this reason, I decided to use the bench as if it was a counter that the people in my artwork were sitting/cooking on, painting at human scale to make it as immersive as possible. It was inspired by Japanese night markets. My favourite thing about this project was including hidden details throughout it, in the restaurant signs. I was even able to paint myself into the scenery. Dimensions: 3.6x11m. Painted over the course of 4.5 weeks, November-December, 2023.
