Drifting Gently

Hot air balloon murals have become a crowd favourite since I started painting them in April 2022. My favourite thing about them is that each can be 100% customised so that every detail means something special to my client.

My first project was in Den Haag, for a client that wished to add some artwork to her entrance. Including the existing mirrors was a fun way to add a little surprise factor to this piece.

This particular hot air balloon represents an entire family. Each hot air balloon features a family member's initial, favourite colours, themes and animal. There is also a family balloon which represents them all and features flags and details from their international background. They are all seen floating above the canal of Versailles, a park close to where they once lived that means a lot to them.

This series of hot air balloons was painted as an extension of the impressionist mural, Le déjeuner de Bagatelle, which can be seen from the bedroom's window. It captures the french 'belle époque' spirit which inspired the original mural and brings a playful atmosphere to this children's bedroom.
